Classic Spirit Stable is the internet identity of Classic Spirit Sales - a company offering show ponies and horses for sale.

Classic Spirit Sales was founded in 2000 by Anita Coons. Anita is a seasoned trainer and rider who has competed in Dressage, hunters and jumpers in New England. Always on the go, Anita splits her time between home base in Massachusetts, Florida, and travel looking for new ponies. Anita can be reached at: anita@classicspiritstable.com

Evenstride Ltd. is located in Byfield, Massachusetts and is owned and operated by Olana Laffey. Olana has been teaching children and adults for more than 20 years. Evenstride Ltd. offers customized individual lessons and complete training programs.

The ponies and horses we offer are carefully selected based on fundamental requirements: they must have an even temperament, performance ability, and eye appeal. Most ponies are Welsh or ½ Welsh Section B hunters.

Training takes place at Evenstride Ltd., in Byfield, Massachusetts and in Orlando, Florida. New ponies are quickly integrated into a consistent lesson and training program suitable to their age and performance level, where they're correctly schooled and handled to provide a solid foundation for competition. When a pony is ready, they proceed to the show ring to gain experience and exposure.

Why are we here? Well, just ask a rider of any age one question. "Who was your favorite horse to show?"

Notice the expression of the rider's face as they recall their favorite horse. Watch the look in their eyes as the memory comes to the surface and the story is told. One story? You may end up hearing two or three!

You'll hear phrases like:
"He knew what to do before I did!"
"She always kept going, even when I was wrong."
"We just clicked!"
"He LOVED to show."
"He took care of me."

That memorable ride for me was aboard Classic Spirit. Spock and I "clicked". He was purchased as a three-year-old. We were a team from the start. Our partnership, combined with the coaching skills of Olana Laffey of Evenstride Ltd., gave me the opportunity to compete at the International Jumping Derby, then held in Newport, RI. Spock taught me how to ride.

That "once in a lifetime" pairing is what we're all about. We don't just sell ponies; we look for match-ups between rider and pony that are something more than just the sum of the two. We're after that special something that exists when a rider and pony act as if they're one being. Let us help your child find the pony that will give him or her a lifetime of stories to tell.

Why should you contact Classic Spirit Sales? Our ponies are reasonably priced. The same pony or horse would likely be priced higher at many other stables.

Why is that? CSS is about locating, handling, training, and showing ponies. We want to have repeat business. We want you to purchase the appropriate pony for your child. We want the best possible endorsement money CANNOT buy…YOUR recommendation.

What is a reasonable price? Our ponies will be offered from $ 5000. The average price, however, is between $10,000 and $20,000 plus any applicable sales taxes.

What if CSS does not have a pony for you when you need one? Although we may have a lease pony available until the right match is available for your child, contacting CSS in advance of your purchase is highly recommended. Frequently the "right" pony will not be around when you are ready! For example, if your child is moving up from leadline and you know you will need a pony for short stirrup, contact us a few months before the change. Preparing in advance will make a big difference to the transition. It also helps us evaluate and consider the best possible candidate to suit your child's personal needs.
